Individual Psychotherapy - For clients who need to process a specific distressing or traumatic event which is making day-to-day living more difficult. Short-term therapeutic focus will be on managing symptoms, communication tools, healthy boundaries and identifying and asking for needs. Long-term goals will be to explore trauma narratives sufficiently to understand triggers in client's defensive structure and make room around them to reduce distress over the long-term.
Marriage/Couples Therapy - For couples who are married, or otherwise committed and trying to navigate the emotional currents of journeying together. Focus on healthy bonding, setting healthy boundaries, learning to fight fair in arguments, rules of engagement, mutuality, spirituality and safety.
Pre-Marital Counseling - For couples who are on the road to marriage and want to work on their emotional modes of interaction to build a foundation for their life together. Therapeutic focus is on healthy bonding, setting healthy boundaries, sexual mutuality, fighting fair in arguments, rules of engagement and safety.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) - Specific treatment of PTSD and stress related responses to specific trauma, to alleviate the emotional re-experiencing of past traumatic events, including but not limited to combat, abuse, and motor vehicle accidents. This is an evidence based, protocol driven therapy, with 30 randomized control trials to confirm its efficacy.
Men's Issues - Maleness is under assault in our society and for male clients who want to figure out what it means to be a healthy, well-adjusted male in the home, at work, and in society without the crippling burden of shame and guilt, sessions focus on healthy boundaries and normalizing the male experience.
Grief Counseling - For clients struggling with loss and the difficulties of moving through it toward whatever the "new normal" looks like. Loss of relationship, job, home, or loved ones can make moving forward a challenge. Therapeutic focus is on normalizing the loss, and managing associated depression and anxiety.
Personal Development - For clients who are ready to figure out what the next chapter of their lives looks like, sessions focus on goal identification and setting, resourcing, training opportunities and task development and tracking.
Professional Development - For individuals interested in making a professional change, sessions focus on developing goals, task setting, training opportunities, and task development and tracking.
Relationship Issues- For clients interested in repairing important relationships, sessions focus on identifying needs and asking for them (being able to hear "no"), setting and holding (and honoring) healthy, permeable boundaries, managing anxiety and anger with deep breathing and mindfulness techniques, and psycho-dynamic exploration sufficient to understand and mitigate emotional triggers.
